Cub Scout Snowbox Derby Fun

January is a challenging month in so many ways.  The holidays are over and the kids start to get cabin fever.  What better time is there for some fun added to your Scouting program?

Up here in Alaska, you can practically guaranteed there will be snow on the ground in January. A traditional activity in our Cub Scout Pack is to host a Snowbox derby.  There are now two Packs on the Elmendorf side of JBER and they work together on many big events, including the Snowbox Derby.

Each den made a ‘vehicle’ using cardboard boxes and duct tape that would allow all boys in the den to ride down the hill.  Helmets were required to be worn in an attempt to keep the boys safe.  It was a cold morning, but all the boys had a blast.  Hot chocolate and sled time finished up the event.
